Carolyn Portugal (Massage Therapist)

Carolyn Portugal
Carolyn began in the health field as a Physical Therapist Assistant and was exposed to many aspects of the medical arena. She worked with patients in numerous settings, from inpatient to outpatient, rehab, geriatrics and aquatic therapy. She found over and over the power of touch to be very satisfying for her patients as well as for herself and at times quite remarkable.

  • She found herself being drawn away from allopathic medicine and towards homeopathic medicine and particularly massage therapy for reasons mentioned above. Her work with the elderly, who on the whole suffer from a lack of human contact, further encouraged her belief in the importance and the healing nature of touch.

Carolyn has also studied CranioSacral Therapy which is a gentle hands-on process of assessing and enhancing the performance of one of our vital systems, the craniosacral system.

Carolyn’s unique background and skills allow her to make a difference in unique ways by being a multifaceted massage therapist.

Irene Pesir (Hypnosis/NLP/Reiki)

Irene Pesir

Irene Pesin, affectionately called "The Block Buster," by her clients and piers, works with people, on their own terms, to remove negative beliefs, pain, emotions and blocks that keep them from living their best life possible. She is the creator of Method Therapy (trademark in progress,) a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master/Teacher, and NLP Master Practitioner.

Irene studied Improv at Chicago’s famed Second City Conservatory as well as Musical Theater and Management at Columbia College Chicago where, due to her extensive experience as a working actress (commercials and stage) and singer/recording artist, she was given the unique opportunity to be a student/professional mentor to others looking to break into the business. She helped launch the careers of several of her "kids" by helping them create realistic, manageable and achievable goals anchored by personal accountability in all aspects of their lives.

In 1998, Irene was accepted into the Lee Strasberg Actor's Studio London (renamed the Method Studio.) Working with teachers such as Marianna Hill, Tony Greco, Jeff Ginsburg, and Philippe Gaulier made a profound impact on her life. It was there that she discovered the Mind/Body/Spirit/Emotion connection. Method Acting forces an actor to evoke emotion and physical change through the power of the mind, using sensory memory (touch, smell, taste, etc.) to awaken REAL emotion. Unaware of therapeutic Hypnotherapy and NLP at the time, she decided to apply some of these method acting techniques to her life coaching clients with amazing results. Incorporating body movement exercises into traditional sensory memory work, Method Therapy (trademark in progress) was born. Today, Irene combines these techniques with Hypnosis, NLP, Reiki and many other proven modalities to help everyone from the burnt out type A executive to the stay at home Mom remove the blocks that keep them from living their best life possible.

Susan Farago (Personal Trainer/Triathlon Coach)

Susan FaragoOriginally from Afton, Minnesota, Susan made the move to Austin in 1998 and has come to enjoy the hot summers and mild winters. She completed her Master of Education degree from the University of Texas specializing in the psychology of learning and motivation, and has over 15 years experience in corporate technical training, certification, and curriculum development. Susan left IBM in 2008 to turn her passion for health and fitness into her next full-time career - to coach and work with a variety of individuals to help them reach their goals while improving their health and overall quality of life.

Her own fitness pursuits have led her away from a non-active lifestyle into a full fledged endurance athlete, enticing her to try new experiences. Highlights include: The Escape from Alcatraz triathlon, the Death Valley Marathon, and six Ironman triathlons including the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. Her latest endurance adventures include 50 mile trail races and her sights are set on even longer distances. Susan plans to run the Boston Marathon in 2010 and she is currently training with a 4 person female cycling team to take on RAAM (Race Across America) in 2011. She never takes herself too seriously and does not hesitate to stray from her normally strict eating and training regiment to enjoy a celebratory box of chocolates after a big event.

Always striving to encourage and inspire others, Susan combines her own enthusiasm for health and fitness with her love of writing to share knowledge and often humorous experiences through articles and stories. Susan also enjoys gardening, photography, riding her motorcycle, trying to make healthy meals and snacks that don't taste horrible, and spending time with her husband - who thankfully is also a triathlete. She believes there are so many things to see and do in this world and she truly lives her motto - "Make a difference in yourself".
